The field of neurogenetics studies how heredity influences the development and function of the nervous system. It treats neural traits as phenotypes and is largely based on the observation that individuals' neurological systems, even within the same species, are not always identical. As the name implies, it combines neuroscience and genetics research, concentrating on how an organism's genetic code affects its manifested characteristics.
