Neurodegenerative diseases damage the central nervous system causing rapid nervous system dysfunction. The most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders are Alzheimer DiseaseParkinson’s Disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. These diseases are characterized by deprivation of neuronal cell function and deterioration of nervous system structure. Neurodegenerative diseases occur primarily in mid- to late-life and the prevalence rate is expected to rise as the population ages. (By 2030, as many as 1 in 5 Americans will be over the age of 65.). Discourse on this topic will aid in Finding treatments and cures for neurodegenerative diseases.
